One of the console's more unknown exclusives is a little RPG that Square Enix is cooking up in a unique "HD-2D" art style, which is now going by its working title of Project Octopath Traveler.

Project Octopath Traveler is going to be released in 2018 for the Nintendo Switch but you can get a sneak peek right now.

Until then download the demo that is now available on the Switch eShop and tell us what you think about Project Octopath Traveler. However, the mechanics of Project Octopath Traveler go deeper than that, with the trailer showing how the different characters of the game react to different situations. Square Enix fans will appreciate hints of Final Fantasy VI in the game's backgrounds and sprites, supported by crisp 2D art and 3D lighting and camera effects. There's still a bit of a wait though to see this title eventually release as Octopath Traveller remains locked down with a vague 2018 release.

A demo version of Project Octopath Traveler is now live on the eShop.

An interesting note: Nintendo said that after the demo makes its rounds, players will be surveyed about their experiences playing the game.
