Pinellas becomes the latest school district to delay reopening to Monday

All Central Florida school districts are closed today. An announcement will be made about Thursday as soon as possible.

Brevard Public Schools will reopen Monday as all staff and students are asked to return for normal classroom instruction and operations.

The release states that many local families are still dealing with power outages and other post-storm issues, and that Flagler Schools also has concerns about getting buses and children to their bus stops safely.

The district has lost six school days due to Hurricane Irma.

Schools and universities in the Tampa Bay area are announcing plans to reopen and resume classes after Hurricane Irma. At this time, only essential staff is to report as directed by their supervisors. Power has been restored at North Columbia Elementary School and that school will open again on Wednesday. We have an unbelievable team preparing our campuses for schools to reopen.

But the district's calendar only includes one of these days in the schedule. "Please continue to stay safe as you return home and begin the cleanup process".
