Ousmane Demeble has been ruled out for up to four months in an injury blow that has rocked Barcelona.

The criticism of the Getafe pitch was not exclusively from Barcelona club officials, as it was a topic in a number of players' post-match interviews.

He will be operated on by specialist Sakari Orava, who has previously been used by Barcelona to aid the recoveries of Thomas Vermaelen, Jandro Orellana and Pol Calvet.

"He is expected to be out for between three and a half months and four months", said the statement.

Dembele was injured during Saturday's Spanish league match at Getafe, when he needed to be substituted in the 28th minute.

That means Dembele is unlikely to play again this year, ruling him out of the rest of the Champions League group stages and the Clasico against Real Madrid on December 23.

Ousmane Dembele has travelled to Finland to undergo surgery on his hamstring, Barcelona have confirmed.

The news comes as a huge setback for the Barcelona manager, Ernesto Valverde, with the former Everton player Gerard Deulofeu and Paco Alcácer his only options up front to play with Luis Suárez and Lionel Messi.
