Mourinho Plays Down Manchester United's Champions League Hopes

Basel have been hit by a UEFA disciplinary charge after their fans set off fireworks in Tuesday's Champions League match at Manchester United.

Zlatan of course stayed with Manchester United and penned a new deal with the club, and will be key to them once he is back fit, with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku now on fire for the club - but once the games start coming thick and fast and injuries and fatigue start piling up, another world class player is never something to turn down. We are playing only with two midfielders, with Matric and Pogba, which are playing really well and without reason to change.

There were eye-catching wins elsewhere - Barcelona beating Juventus 3-0, big-spending Paris Saint-Germain crushing Celtic 5-0 - and Mourinho said United could not now be considered in the same bracket.

Goalkeeper David de Gea is set to be United's first-choice goalkeeper in Europe, with Mourinho confirming he will not repeat his selection policy of last season, when back-up Sergio Romero played in the Europa League.

"I just know from experience it's a muscular injury", the former Chelsea boss added.

"Because I know that his desire is to improve quicker".

"Bad decisions, fantasy football, PlayStation football, tricks and when you stop to play as a team I don't like, and you gamble a bit". "To play my first match at Old Trafford is something I have really waited for". The Frenchman has formed a very smooth partnership with new arrival, Nemanja Matic and Mourinho will now have to look up to the likes of Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini.

According to Mourinho, both Real and Juve enjoyed an easier domestic schedule, pointing to the lack of a winter break in England. Now I'm going to leave the match for a while and then watch the replay to see if there's anything that I could have done better.

He appears certain to miss Sunday's meeting with Everton, while Mourinho's men also have clashes with Burton Albion, Southampton, CSKA Moscow and Crystal Palace to finish September.

"So we need this and in the Premier League and the Champions League I have to choose the players in relation to the quality".

"So what I want is to have the players available and sometimes they are not playing, but for me as a manager it's important to have options".
