Throughout the day, the area rattled with gunfire and explosions.

Sources said three civilians and an army man sustained bullet injuries during the encounter and have been hospitalized. Since the attack was sudden, Army personnel did not have time to respond.

"An infiltration bid has been foiled in Machhil sector and two terrorists have been killed", defence spokesman Col. Rajesh Kalia had said.

Kumar said a large cache of arms and ammunition including AK 47 rifles, ammunition, warlike stores, medicines and incriminating material has been recovered from the possession of the slain militants. With their elimination, a major terror attack has been averted. "Terrorists threw the grenade at a Central Reserve Police Force camp near the bank".
