Man Utd defeats Basel 3-0, Pogba injures

United marked their return to the competition with a 3-0 win at Old Trafford, but Mourinho was unimpressed with their play in the second half.

Pogba was substituted for Marouane Fellaini in the 18th minute of the game after the France worldwide went down with a suspected hamstring injury, the midfielder was pictured leaving Old Trafford on crutches after the game.

Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic started in midfield for United, Fellaini came on for the injured Pogba in the first half, and Michael Carrick was an unused substitute. "But we have good players who can cover for him".

Pogba left the stadium on crutches after being forced off in the 18th minute.

The defender was signed for £31 million from Benfica in the summer, but he is yet to play in the Premier League after Jose Mourinho insisted the Sweden worldwide needed more time to adapt to English football.

Fellaini was jeered by some United supporters last season after conceding a late penalty that enabled Everton to rescue a 1-1 draw in a Premier League game at Goodison Park in December.

Mourinho ordered his go-to man Fellaini to get stripped and ready for action to signal the end of the night for Pogba.
