Major fire engulfs RK Studios in Chembur

Bollywood celebrities including Anupam Kher, Farhan Akhtar and Rishi Kapoor were saddened following a major fire that broke out on the sets of TV show ' Super Dancer' at RK Studio in Mumbai on Saturday. However, the crew was not at the set when the blaze started.

After actor Rishi Kapoor, whose father founded the studio, tweeted about the fire, actor Anupam Kher, too, took to Twitter to write: "Feeling awful about the #RKStudio fire". At present, six fire tenders rushed to the spot and they are trying to control the flames.

According to initial reports, the fire was said to be confined to electric wiring, electric installations, and decoration equipment in 100x80 sq ft area on the ground floor of the structure.

More details are awaited. "Thankfully, [there were] no casualties.All your concerns are appreciated".

PS Rahangdale, chief of the Mumbai fire brigade, said the fire was reported around 2.20 pm. The fire engulfed Stage 1.

The R K Studio was founded in 1948.

The fire was finally doused by 6.16 p.m., and the operation was officially called off at 7.25 p.m. Fire brigade and civic officers confirmed there were no casualties.

Flames and dense smoke were seen emanating from the studio for several hours. Some of the films include Aag, Barsaat, Awaara, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai, Mera Naam Joker, Bobby, and Satyam Shivam Sundaram. Rishi Kapoor had directed Aa Ab Laut Chalen under the banner.
