The film, which hasn't premiered to wide release but has been screened at select events, reportedly finds Gaga at a loss for how things with Kinney fell apart, and how work seems to routinely kill her love life.

The upcoming Lady Gaga documentary, Gaga: Five Foot Two offers a clue as to why the super star split with her fiance, Taylor Kinney. "I wish to help raise awareness", she said, echoing her earlier statements from the Toronto International Film Festival.

"My love life has just imploded", she notes.

It's the first time Gaga has publicly acknowledged the diagnosis, which can also cause fatigue and memory and mood issues, after previously only referring to her battle with "chronic pain". "But it's liberating, too". Other localised conditions such as migraines or tension headaches, TMJ disorder, irritable bowel syndrome, acid reflux, irritable bladder, and pelvic pain syndrome are also likely to co-exist in patients with fibromyalgia. Symptoms of the chronic illness can flare up after a physical trauma, surgery, infection or psychological stress, or they can gradually appear over time with no known cause.

For Gaga, she says speaking out about her experience is a way she plans to cope with her diagnosis. "My pain really does me no good unless I transform it into something that is..." So I hope people watching it who do struggle with chronic pain know that they're not alone. "I'm looking forward to reflecting and slowing down for a moment".

"'Five Foot Two" debuts on Netflix on September 22.
