Jackie Hoffman's "Feud" Emmy loss was an iconic mess

Jackie Hoffman had quite the visceral reaction to losing out to Big Little Lies' Laura Dern at the 2017 Emmys Sunday evening.

Hoffman was caught on camera yelling "Damn it!" after the victor was revealed.

Laura Dern, who picked up the best supporting actress gong for her role in the HBO mini series praised the two female producers in her acceptance speech, acknowledging the difficulties that her friends and colleagues had previously spoken about.

Which is why I feel fairly certain that not only was that Emmy reaction a joke, but Hoffman's Twitter tirade later that night was also a joke.

Losing to Dern in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or a Movie category, Hoffman made sure that she used her brief time on screen to ideal comic effect.

'I've been acting since I was 11 years old and I think I have worked with maybe 12 women, so I want to thank the television academy for honouring our show, ' she explained.

You're always a victor to us, Jackie.

The Feud: Bette and Joan actress then took her act to Twitter, where she jokingly blamed Dern's win on nepotism. "Forgive me for being from real people #elitism #Emmys2017", she tweeted of Dern, the daughter of Hollywood vets Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd. Fortunately for us, Hoffman did not hold back her disappointment.
