As Playerunknown's Battlegrounds continues its steady pace to the top of the video game popularity mountain, other studios have done the inevitable and begun trying to take their own slice out of the wildly popular battle royale cake. It will allow up to 100 players to go head to head in a PVP environment, building bases and shooting up one another's forts with abandon. The last commander standing wins.

In a blog post on the Epic Games website, the team reveal some details about what players can expect with this new mode. Building and combat skills are then utilized for domination. "To maintain game balance we kept the PvP mode completely separate from the PvE mode". "This is also a great time for new Fortnite players to jump in because for one week only we have a 25% discount on our Standard and Deluxe Edition Founder's Packs", Mustard said.

While some are concerned that this will drive the game more towards a micro-transaction model, it seems to be going down reasonably well with streamers so far.

Currently, Battle Royale is slated to come to Fortnite in just a few short weeks on September 26 for all platforms. Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) has announced a Battle Royale mode as well. Let us know, join us on Discord, on our Facebook page, or Twitter.
