The club have now confirmed Welbeck will miss at least three weeks, per Sky Sports.

Wenger confirmed after the match that he did not know the severity of the issue but did not believe it to be particularly bad.

"People forget that two months ago we beat Chelsea in the Cup final and they don't give you the Cup, you know", said the Frenchman, who has seen his team respond positively to a 4-0 drubbing at Anfield prior to the first worldwide break of the season.

The 26-year-old, who has scored three times for his club this season, is also unlikely to feature for England in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia on October 5 and Lithuania on October 8, though he could return in time for Arsenal's trip to Watford on October 14.

Additionally, forgotten man Mathieu Debuchy "is coming back too slowly" for tomorrow, while midfielder Francis Coquelin, like Welbeck, has been ruled out until at least the worldwide break next month. "He has a little inflammation of his knee". [Mathieu] Debuchy is coming back slowly.

Arsenal face a busy fixture list due to playing in the Europa League and Wenger offered a hint as to his team selection plans for the game against League One side Doncaster.

The Gunners are set to take on their League one opponents in a League Cup clash at the Emirates tomorrow evening, with a number of fringe players expected to be given a run-out by Arsene Wenger. The likes of Reiss Nelson, Jeff Reine Adelaide, Chuba Akpom and Matt Macey will also hope to be involved.
