Donald Glover Wins Two Emmys and Create History In The Process

Mr. Glover credited Mr. Trump with his award for actor in a comedy, saying he had made "black people No. 1 on the most-oppressed list".

The last black actor to win an Emmy in that category was Robert Guillaume in 1985 for "Benson".

He's also the first director to win for a show in which he acted since Alan Alda won for M*A*S*H in 1977.

It really is fascinating how any of this work gets done at all...

If we're going to name one overall victor of the 2017 Emmys, it's going to be Donald Glover. "I want to thank my parents who are in the audience. He's the reason I'm probably up here", Glover said.

Glover, who created and plays Earn Marks on "Atlanta", also won Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series at the Primetime Emmy Awards.

"The things that make us different, those are our superpowers", Waithe said in her acceptance speech. "I want to thank my unborn son, we're listening to Stevie tonight".

His Emmy wins yesterday solidify the obvious, that Glover is a savant of the silver screen, and a paramour of perspective of thought, a professor of picturesque prose. Then he thanked the City of Atlanta. "It is filled with shame and secrecy, and by you acknowledging me with this award, it shines a light on it even more". We still don't know her identity (or last name), but their first child arrived on the scene sometime past year.

Sterling K. Brown of "This Is Us" won for outstanding lead actor in a drama series, the first black actor to take the trophy since Andre Braugher won for "Homicide: Life on the Streets" in 1998.

Glover could perhaps be in for yet more awards for acting in the coming years, as he's been cast as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo Star Wars spin off and The Lion King. The Atlanta writers room moved to London, where the Lucasfilm movie was being shot, in order to write the second season near Glover.
