A London-bound British Airways flight was grounded and evacuated at Paris's Charles De Gaulle Airport on Sunday after a bomb scare.

There have been a number of smaller attacks, while the doomed EgyptAir flight MS804 which crashed into the Mediterranean in May 2016, possibly due to an explosion, also took off from Charles de Gaulle.

Dozens of armed officers and firefighters surrounded the plane headed to London's Heathrow Airport Sunday after they received a "security alert", a spokesman for France's national gendarme service said.

"The pilot then said there had been a direct security threat involving our flight", Anderson told the AP.

Passenger James Anderson, 20, told how he was initially told flight BA0303 was facing delays over technical issues ahead of its departure to London Heathrow. We will all be led off the aircraft & baggage searched in due course'.

After an initial search was given the all clear, passengers are being put through X-rays and body scanners by armed officers.

Police and fire crews attended the scene. Now hold luggage being searched by dogs'.

'We were then told the aircraft had to move to another part of the airport.

"We were told they are also now searching the aircraft with dogs".

The security threat came two days after an explosion rocked a crowded London subway auto, injuring at least 29, in what officials say was a terror attack.

"The safety and security of our customers and crew is always our top priority".

The flight eventually took off three hours later after security checks.

This means that security checks are carried out regularly at transport hubs such as airports, and train stations, and often without warning.
