With time running out Barcelona coach Ernesto Valverde introduced Paulinho in the 78th minute.

But, the first-half performance Ernesto Valverde's side gave in the first-half wasn't up to scratch and Barcelona were to enter the half-time break 1-0 down courtesy of a stunning volley from Getafe's Japanese worldwide Gaku Shibasaki.

Getafe had taken the lead in the first half through Gaku Shibasaki's stunning volley high into the roof of the net.

Roberto shows great tenacity down the right before cutting the ball back into the box for Suarez who came on at the start of the second half for Andres Iniesta.

As for Getafe, Jorge Molina once again led the line for the capital outfit, while Japan worldwide Shibasaki also kept his position in the team.

Samuel Umtiti, meanwhile, powered a header at goal, but it was saved by Vicente Guaita.

In first half stoppage time Guaita produced a good save to turn Lionel Messi's free kick away for a corner.

Both teams continued to press for a victor but it was the visitors who managed to strike the decisive blow when Paulinho, who was brought on in the second half in place of Ivan Rakitic, drove into the box before firing a lovely finish across the keeper.

Barcelona were pressing, however, and the visitors eventually levelled the scores in the 62nd minute when Denis Suarez, who had worked some space inside the Getafe box, found the top corner with a brilliant effort. Certainly not a vintage performance by his standards, but Messi was still key as Barca made it four wins out of four, providing the assist for Paulinho's goal.

Barcelona will attempt to make it five straight La Liga wins at the start of the new season when they welcome Eibar on Tuesday night, while next up for Getafe is a trip to Celta Vigo on Thursday.

"I'm very happy to have scored the winning goal, it was very special", Paulinho said.
