Apple will be using the Face ID not only to unlock the iPhone X but to also authorise payments on Apple Pay.

Count on face recognition and good-looking selfies to overcome the sticker shock of Apple's most expensive phone to date. As CEO Tim Cook recently said, the $999 iPhone X is a "value price" relative to all the technology packed inside.

"The iPhones 8 check every box a phone has ever checked before, but they feel like the last of something right as Apple and others prepare the first of something else", he wrote. Apple has introduced a new Face ID to verify your identity in split seconds and authenticate payments via Apple Pay.

Apple announced the iPhone X last week, and it will be available to pre-order October 27, and ready for shipping November 3.

GMA anchor Robin Roberts said "you knew this was coming", before reading off the Twitter users' question about the considerable price tag. She has a favorable opinion on the device's camera, particularly its Portrait Mode, Portrait Lighting and 2x zoom features.

The first wave of iPhone 8 reviews dropped Tuesday and as can be expected, there was a pretty consistent opinion of the device not being as intriguing as the iPhone X. Many reviewers have recommended that those looking for a significant upgrade wait for the X; however, they haven't completely dismissed the iPhone 8. Iris scanning, for instance, commonly uses near-infrared illumination, which the iPhone X has (such a feature is already included in the aforementioned Samsung handset). "It's a value price, actually, for the technology you're getting", he said. The two are powered by the A11 Bionic processor which also comes with a Neural Engine plus an embedded M11 notion coprocessor. And though the dual-camera setup on the iPhone 8-Plus is slightly inferior to the X's - the X supports optical image stabilization (OIS) for both lenses rather than just one, and has a slightly larger aperture for its telephoto lens - both deliver major improvements compared with the iPhone 7-Plus' camera with the help of better sensors and image-processing. Recent benchmark results show that the iPhone X is far more powerful than any Android smartphone on the planet. Both Xbox and PlayStation consoles have now come out with mid-generation versions, while Nintendo has been adding several upgraded versions to their systems since the Wii hit shelves in 2006.

A report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says when a new iPhone goes on pre-orders, the demand tends to be so strong that there is a 3-6 weeks of shipping delay.
