Trump praises Xi for new United Nations sanctions on N.Korea

"North Korean leader Kim Jong-un yesterday responded to new United Nations sanctions against the country, saying: 'There is no bigger mistake than the USA believing that its land is safe across the ocean, '" the host went on.

"North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States", Trump said from the clubhouse at his golf course in Bedminster, N.J. "They will be met with the fire and fury like the world has never seen".

Tensions were ratcheted up this week when the US president responded to news that Pyongyang had developed miniaturized nuclear warheads with a drastic warning that he would meet their continued threats with "fire and fury like the world has never seen".

"US intelligence now believes that North Korea is now making missile-ready nuclear weapons", Colbert explained. "Behind this air attack will follow sea and land forces in such numbers and power as which they have not yet seen".

North Korea can never have enough missiles to attack the US or its local allies and survive: it would be national suicide. "We should also make clear that, if the USA and South Korea carry out military attacks to overthrow the North Korean regime and change the political landscape on the Korean Peninsula, China will be determined to take actions to prevent them from doing so".

The case of American student Otto Warmbier, who died following his release from North Korea, was included in those talks.

"I think China can do a lot more", Trump told reporters on Thursday. Perhaps, but senior administration officials recognize that an armed conflict on the peninsula would be, in the words of Secretary of Defense James Mattis, "tragic on an unbelievable scale".

The remark was improvised, apparently in reaction to a Washington Post story on how the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency assesses North Korea as having achieved a miniaturized nuclear warhead that can fit on the long-range missiles it is testing. "By maintaining the option of using nuclear weapons first in a conflict, USA policy provides" Trump "with that power".

Deterrence - the same policy that worked against the Soviet Union for about 45 years - along with sanctions, diplomacy and a renewed human rights campaign directed at the North Koreans, remains the only realistic option.

"I think he really had in mind John Brennan and myself, and perhaps as things unfolded, Jim Comey", Clapper said, referring to former Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan and former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey. Listen, they threaten us in a way you never will.

So it's - North Koreans, they do speak a different language than what we're - and Kim Jong Un does speak a different language than what we're used to here in the United States. We're sorry we made fun of you. Said Throckminion, "We can not allow hard-working American zombies and mutants to be displaced by low-skilled immigrant zombies and mutants who will depress wages based on our new currency system of cigarettes, water, antibiotics, and gender-neutral prostitutes". "I watched that clip about a dozen times today and after viewing number eight, I noticed this". The camera pans over to Kellyanne.

Kimmel continued: "By the way, he's making this insane threat from a golf course". Humphrey also said that Trump is "impaired by a seriously sick psyche", and that "his sick mind and reckless conduct could consume the lives of millions". Pyongyang's missiles, buried beneath mountains or loaded onto mobile launchers, are not easy to find; even if we could strike them, metropolitan Seoul, which contains about 25 million people, is well within range of a massive conventional reprisal. "I'm sure everything will work out fine".
