Ajax and Colombia center back Davinson Sanchez could be heading to Tottenham Hotspur, if a report from RAC Radio in Catalonia is to be believed.

A deal now appears to be on the verge of completion as the newspaper says the defender has already agreed personal terms so the move should be wrapped-up swiftly as long as there are no late complications.

Talk of Sanchez as a Tottenham target has emerged over the last week, with the South American enforcer a star man for Ajax last season.

Tottenham have strong links with the Eredivisie giants, having signed Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertognhen from the Dutch side over recent years.

Ajax will be making a massive profit on the player given that they only paid around €5 million (£4.5 million) for his services a year ago.

Davinson Sanchez is not part of Ajax's match squad for their league match against Heracles tonight.

And if the Lilywhites lose another defender, with Kevin Wimmer heavily linked with a move away, then, according to ESPN, they will turn their attention to Ajax's 21-year-old Colombian centre-back, who they are said to be closing in on a closing in on with a £35m bid.

Spurs are yet to buy anyone so far this summer, a situation causing concern for fans and players, judging by the comments of defender Danny Rose.

A new defender is on Pochettino's agenda and Sanchez emerged as a prime target late last week with widespread reports suggesting Tottenham were in talks for the Colombian worldwide.

But the wait for their first signing looks nearly over on the eve of Tottenham's first league match of the season at Newcastle.
