Sony Set Date for Spider-Man Spin-off 'Silver & Black' and 'Sicario 2'

As for what Silver and Black will be about, some claims are floating around from fairly reputable sources, although nothing as official as Sony's official release date announcement (basically, you've reached the "rumors" half of this article).

Silver and Black was written by Chris Yost (Thor: The Dark World) and though plot details are scarce, it will obviously be about some mix of the two popular Spider-man foes, one of which is a mercenary, the other a skilled burglar.

That release date is interesting for a couple reasons; first off, it's now scheduled to be the first superhero movie release of 2019, which will surely be another busy year for the genre. The spin-off will not be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and will serve as a "buddy film" to Spider-Man.

Next, Sony Pictures also brought some bad news for Bad Boys fans eagerly awaiting a reunion of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

Bad Boys for Life, the Joe Carnahan-directed third installment in the Bad Boys franchise, has been taken off of Sony's schedule for now after being slotted for November 9th, 2018. The big screen Barbie movie has been pushed back to August 8, 2018 from a previous June 2018 date. Alethea Jones directs the film.

In more promising sequel news, Sicaro 2: Soldado has secured a release date of June 29, 2018. The film, which hopes to re-team Martin Lawrence and Will Smith, had previously been scheduled for November 9, 2018, but the release has now been pushed to an unknown date. For the former, Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin will return; the latter is eyeing Anne Hathaway to star. Silver has also has had several run-ins with Spider-Man.
