The game is created to look, and feel like a lost Sonic sequel.

Later levels offer more innovation, but even these feel a little recycled.

The game's reviews are just beginning to drop, and it sounds like what Sonic Mania tried to do has been a success. Rather, it's an accumulation of some of the greatest maps and ideas of previous 2D Sonic games.

Sega has announced that Sonic Mania will launch on August 15th for Xbox One, PS4 and Switch. Sonic Mania for PC will now launch on August 29.* Developed by Christian Whitehead, Headcannon, and PagodaWest Games in collaboration with SEGA of America, Sonic Mania celebrates the best of Classic Sonic, pushing the envelope forward with stunning 60 FPS gameplay and pixel-perfect physics.

The $19.99 retro game brings back Sonic the hedgehog and other familiar characters in HD and 60fps.

The Sonic community manager, Aaron Webber, went onto say that "The team is working really hard to make sure it works on all platforms and on a lot of things to touch it up,".

To make up for the delay, SEGA is giving away Steam copies of the original "Sonic the Hedgehog" game to those who pre-order "Sonic Mania" by August 15 or those who purchase the Collector's Edition.

During the livestream Sonic Team creative director Kazuyuki Hoshino came on for a live unboxing of the collectors edition of the game.
