President Donald Trump said on Friday that the US military is "locked and loaded" should North Korea decide to "act unwisely" as the nuclear crisis between the two nations continues to escalate. North Korean leader Kim Jong Un wants world recognition for his regime and the USA needs to stop backing him into a corner.

Late Thursday night Trump doubled down on his dramatic warning of "fire and fury" if North Korea continued to threaten the US, as he scrambled to resolve the most serious worldwide confrontation of his young presidency.

As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, McCaskill said she was confident in USA missile defense systems protecting Guam and America's west coast, though she remained anxious about Trump's capabilities in global negotiations.
