UNITED hitman Romelu Lukaku bagged his first Premier League goal for his new club in the opening game of the new campaign at Old Trafford.

It was a dominating display from United and they look good value to win the Premier League this season if they can to continue to perform as they did today.

As United broke Marcus Rashford shaped to pass across to Henrikh Mkhitaryan but he instead slipped it through to Lukaku, who slotted it past Joe Hart.

Anthony Martial scored Manchester United's third in the 87th minute before Paul Pogba rounded off the scoring with a cool finish three minutes later.

Having survived that late scare, it was business as usual for United after the break as they doubled their lead within just eight minutes of the restart, when Zabaleta was yellow-carded for blocking the escaping Rashford on the right-hand edge of the Hammers area.

Paul Pogba (Manchester United): Matic was terrific on debut whilst Mata, Mkhitaryan and Rashford buzzed endlessly behind Lukaku, but Pogba ran the show. Last campaign was full of too many inconsistences and Bilic will know he needs to start picking up points fast if he wants to prevent the exit rumours circulating once more. Picking the ball up in his own half, the teenager set off charging at a muddled bunch of retreating defenders, making a cute shimmy to his right before playing the pass to slice through the West Ham line.

And the Argentinian paid a heavy price for that foul for, when Mkhitaryan floated over the consequent free-kick, that man Lukaku ghosted in front of Masuaku to nod home his second goal of the afternoon.

The 24-year-old did score in Manchester United's 2-0 win against Dutch giants Ajax in the Europa League final to secure a place in the Champions League this term. They will come up with all the time. Then, after being central to much of United's pretty play, Pogba made a decision to go it alone, carrying the ball forward unchallenged before angling a shot past Hart.

Jose Mourinho has won nine league games against West Ham; more than he has against any other opponent in his managerial career.
