Amanda and William Green were deceased, next to their 4 year old.

Hikers found the Buffalo couple unresponsive next to their 4-year-old son Alexander on the gorge floor. The 7-year-old boy is being evaluated at the hospital. Eventually, they found the couple's 7-year-old son, Jacob, walking nearby, officials said.

The sheriff says Jacob has a broken right arm and ankle and is in good condition.

Officials pronounced Amanda and William dead at the scene.

"The first two hikers who found the bodies did not have a cellphone", Howard said.

The three family members were found on a low ledge a few feet above a creek at the base of the cliff they had fallen from.

Authorities believe the two parents and child fell about 200 feet (60 meters) down a steep cliff, but they are not sure what caused the fall. A sheriff's detective found the injured 7-year-old around five hours later, according to sheriff's spokesman Scott Zylka. The boy is understood to have suffered internal injuries, multiple fractures, and a head injury. It wasn't clear whether he was with his family during the fatal accident - or whether he fell from the cliff at all.

Their four-year-old son Alexander also plummeted to the ground with his parents, sustaining life-threatening injuries in the fall.

There's no word on how the incident occurred or on Jacob Green's condition.
