Less than two minutes into the game, Lacazette announced his arrival to the Premier League with goal as Arsenal took an early lead in the opening game of the season.

Ten minutes after the break, the England worldwide struck again as he raced in unmarked to head home Riyad Mahrez's corner to put Shakespeare's side in control - before Arsenal netted twice in the final 10 minutes to win the contest.

The French striker came off the bench to hand the Gunners all three points in a thrilling 4-3 win over Leicester on Friday night.

After the contest, Gunners manager Arsene Wenger claimed the winning goal was vindication for Olivier Giroud's determination to remain in North London. Because I know how important he is, not only as a player - he is a fantastic player - but as well in the group. Schmeichel's saves were keeping Leicester in front but he was beaten when Ramsey got on the end of Granit Xhaka's cross and, again, when substitute Giroud headed in a corner.

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare was good on his word and started Riyad Mahrez, despite the fact the Algeria global has asked to leave the club.

Giroud's future has been a source of speculation this summer after Arsenal moved quickly to sign Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette.

"I feel as well that the goals we conceded, we can work together to get rid of that".

Jamie Vardy, who turned down a move to Arsenal last season, then put Leicester 2-1 up in the 29th minute.

"We went for a win and we deservedly earned it".

Arsene Wenger also added after the game that he was delighted that the 30-year-old had made a decision to stay at the Emirates, after he had offered him the opportunity to leave.

"This has happened to us the last three seasons here".

Research done by Bettingexpert shows that no current Premier League player has scored more opening day goals than Lacazette.

"Obviously I knew that I was going to have a chance so we tried to push".

The Germany global appeared to handle the ball during the build to Aaron Ramsey's late equaliser.

"I'm always looking for the positives, we came to the Emirates and the players executed the game plan".
