North Korea Threat: US, Japanese troops prepare for war

USA military officials on Friday said that there are plans to conduct joint large-scale exercises with #South Korea later in August, as North Korea finalizes plans to launch medium range missiles toward the Pacific island of Guam.

Tourism-dependent Guam is looking to cash in on its new-found fame as a North Korean missile target, tapping an unlikely promotional opportunity to attract visitors to the idyllic island and prove that all publicity is good publicity.

President Donald Trump is warning of military action, saying the U.S.is "locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely".

"This might make North Korea think that's just some verbal threat, so its attitude is getting tougher and tougher".

The tiny US territory of Guam feels a strong sense of patriotism and confidence in the American military, which has an enormous presence on the Pacific island. Here are five things you might not know about the territory.

In a guidance note titled "Preparing for an Imminent Missile Threat", Guam Homeland Security advised seeking out in advance windowless shelters in homes, schools and offices, with concrete "dense enough to absorb radiation". President William McKinley ordered Guam to be ruled by the U.S. Navy.

The naval base dates to 1898, when the US took over Guam from Spain after the Spanish-American War.
