Despite not having a contract, the 35-year-old is using the club's facilities during his rehabilitation.

"We added three players as you know - one defender, one midfielder and one attacking player, but for this beginning of the season we lost important players too", the former Chelsea manager added.

"I just think he was very clear showing what he did past year was not enough for him".

The Red Devils coach has confirmed United are in talks with Ibrahimovic about signing a new deal once he is fully fit. He wants more football at the highest level so we are having conversations and discussing the possibility of him staying for the second part of the season'.

This much was self evident, when United's new No.9 - the number which Ibrahimovic occupied last season - Romelu Lukaku deemed it necessary to seek the Swede's permission before taking his desired squad number.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has once again taken to social media to prove that he is 100% not human as he steps up his recovery from the ACL injury that brought a premature end to his 2016/17 season.

"Between the players we have lost and the players we have got, I think we are in a similar situation but with more experience of working together and a much better pre-season".

"I would say there are seven teams to fight for the title and 20 teams to fight every week for every match".

"I am happy that the club managed to do 75 per cent of the work before the Premier League starts and if until the August 31 the remaining 25 per cent don't arrive, I will not moan".

Speaking in his press conference ahead of Sunday's Premier League game against West Ham, Mourinho stated that Ibrahimovic feels he has unfinished business at Old Trafford and the door remains open for the striker to possibly return during the season.
