Liverpool fans have expressed their excitement on Twitter after the club released an official statement which revealed that Philippe Coutinho would not be sold during the transfer window.

However, manager Jurgen Klopp has repeatedly insisted Liverpool are not willing to sell the 25-year-old this summer.

Merseysiders will be delighted to see the club's financiers taking a firsthand approach to the matter in their efforts to see Coutinho-arguably the club's most valuable asset by a wide margin-remain at Anfield.

"From a financial standpoint, there is no price limit to let him go".

Even in the best case scenario, he is unlikely to play a significant role in either of the club's first two league games or in their Champions League playoff.

The future of Liverpool's star man Philippe Coutinho has become the biggest saga of this summer's transfer market. That is set in stone.

The news is the latest blow for Barcelona in their plans to rebuild their squad after Neymar's move to Paris St Germain for 222 million euros ($260 million) debilitated their attack.

"And if they lose Philippe Coutinho, they'll get an enormous figure for him, but at this point of the window, they'll probably end up spending a lot of money on someone they are not sure about to replace him".

The intention ahead of 2017-18 was to build on the foundations already in place, with Klopp adamant all through the off-season that the Reds would not sanction the departure of any of their core players. "But a transfer is also a question of timing and if you have the opportunity and the need to react to such a transfer. We are not in that situation".
