An AFP report said four were arrested Monday in Mumbai for leaking the popular HBO show's fourth episode, "The Spoils of War", from the current season before it aired on August 6.

Game of Thrones airs in 170 countries across the world and has dealt with a series of script and episode leaks since it first aired in April 2011.

Police was able to track the suspects with the help of Prime Focus investigators who said that the episode was accessed through the ID of an employee and sent out using the email account of another employee.

The leak was ruled to be separate from the huge data breach suffered by the show's network bosses at HBO earlier in the week, and was found to have stemmed from the company's distribution partner Star India.

We also reached out to the company that streams episodes, Prime Focus Technologies, where three of the four suspects worked now. On Monday, law enforcement said they arrested four people including two employees of Mumbai's Andheri-based firm, Prime Focus Technologies.

"We investigated the case and have arrested four individuals for unauthorised publication of the fourth episode from season seven", Akbar Pathan, Deputy Commissioner of Police told AFP.

A new statement released to The Hollywood Reporter reads: "This is the first time in the history of Star India that an incident of this nature has occurred".

They all would've had official credentials with access to the episode. "We are deeply grateful to the police for their swift and prompt action", said Star India and Novi Digital Entertainment Pvt Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Star India which owns Hotstar.

Police said the four people arrested and charged with criminal breach of trust and computer-related offenses would be held until August 21 pending the results of the investigation, the Hindustan Times reports.
