Essential Phone to Get Android Updates for Two Years, Andy Rubin Confirms

Canadian telecommunications giant Telus Corp. has officially announced the month of release and price point for Canadians interested in buying Android co-founder Andy Rubin's Essential Phone.

"That's why we made Essential Phone out of titanium and ceramic", he continued, boasting "harder, stronger, and more resistant" materials than most smartphones.

Essential Phone, which created a lot of buzzes when it was launched in June this year, will receive Android OS update for 2 years.

The Essential PH-1 phone is now available to pre-order exclusively from Sprint.

The Essential Phone, announced back in May this year, is now up for pre-order from Amazon, Sprint, and Best Buy.

Accessories like Essential's 360-degree camera and docking station magnetically snap on, making it simple to capture life from every angle, then recharge at the end of the day.

"The Essential Phone PH-1 features a 5.71" Quad HD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and very slim bezels all around. The unlocked model of the smartphone is available for purchase at $699 (roughly Rs. 44,800) from the company's own website.

It comes with a 5.7-inch edge-to-edge QHD (1312×2560 pixels) display with 19:10 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it features Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor along with Adreno 540 and 4GB RAM. The handset does not come with a microSD card slot, but the 128GB of onboard storage should be sufficient for all but the most demanding power users out there. The camera is able to record 360-degree UHD resolution at 30 fps. Further, The Verge says that the smartphone will run on Ambient OS, which is based on Android, though there is no information about the Android version. It has a 13 megapixel camera on the front and a 8-megapixel camera on the back, and according to Telus will have 28GB of memory. On the connectivity front, it supports Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac with MIMO, NFC, 4G LTE, USB Type-C and fingerprint sensor.

Talking about the battery, the device is backed by a 3040mAh cell with fast charging support. It measures 141.5 x 71.1 x 7.8 mm and weighs approx.
