Arsene Wenger has heaped plaudits on Olivier Giroud who scored the victor that ensured Arsenal claimd all three points in their nervy season opening day 4-3 win against Leicester City at the Emirates.

The France global came off the bench to head home in the 85th minute as the Gunners kicked off the Premier League season with a thrilling 4-3 win. "We have many games and hopefully, I can give them games", Wenger said during his post match conference.

The two sides went into the break level as Danny Welbeck scored on the stroke of half-time with a neat finish.

Alexandre Lacazette scored the joint-fastest goal on the opening day of a Premier League season by heading home after 94 seconds of Arsenal's game against Leicester City.

"Even when I played Giroud through the middle and him on the left he did very well on the left".

"Going forward and character wise we have been great". You can not keep the strikers happy when they don't play. "He is a fantastic guy as well - committed, he loves the club".

"I'm happy we handled it well in the end", said Cech, who joined the Gunners from Chelsea in 2015. "He has a big weight in this squad and it was a relief for me that he chose to stay".

Lacazette was off the mark in Arsenal colours with just his second touch of the ball - the first being from kickoff - as he nodded home 10 yards out from a first-time Mohamed Elneny cross.

"With the third goal, also after a corner, (Jamie) Vardy's header was nice, but we were there and we had enough time to find our place".

"Previously in the Premier League we've not got off to the best of starts, so it meant a lot for us to get a good start and get three points today".

"We wanted to do that today - unfortunately that didn't happen and it's something where we can look back and analyse the game and see where we went wrong and improve on the situation".

"He came out and made a statement which we are all aware of but while he trains and plays and is professional the way he is, he will be considered for selection".
