Testino, a celebrated fashion photographer, is also responsible for some of the most iconic images of Diana, who is pictured left with Prince Charles in August 1981 by the River Dee.

Camilla has just reached the average age of the people the charity helps and has reason to be thankful - as she was this weekend surrounded by friends at her birthday bash.

Speaking about snapping Camilla for her 70 birthday, Testino said: "I'm honoured to document Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on this very important date".

The party was the second celebration of Camilla's birthday, which falls on Monday 17 July.

Those who attended included the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and Camilla's children. Despite his many affairs during their marriage which led to an eventual divorce in 1995, they remain good friends.

The royal couple seem very content, both in public and private, and it's clear that Camilla has made Charles very happy.

The society stylist, although officially retired from the salon, still sees his favourite clients privately and is the only man the Duchess trusts to tend to her locks.

There is still debate about whether the general public would accept her as Queen when Prince Charles becomes King. But if she wishes to be known by another title, that's a matter of royal prerogative, so the monarch could determine that another style will be employed.

Ahead of her 70 birthday, an explosive biography about Camilla's life written by Penny Junor was released in extracts, claiming that Diana menaced her before two television interviews which rocked the monarchy.

Camilla was initially blamed by some for Diana's unhappiness as she complained publicly about Camilla's continuing close relationship with Charles.

The Duchess was recently filmed by ITV News cameras having a fit of giggles watching some traditional throat singing on tour in the far north of Canada.

Charles does not turn 70 until November next year.
