Don't you just love the transfer rumour mill, the way that just one little comment from an Arsenal groundman or an inconsequential journalist can spark a feeding frenzy amongst the fans.

The father of Kylian Mbappe has reportedly held negotiations with Monaco amid speculation that Arsenal are preparing a huge bid for the player.

Well, according to the (never-wrong of course) journalist Emanuele Giulianelli the deal has already been completed.

It's worth noting that, according to recent reports, the France left winger has agreed personal terms with Arsenal but the Gunners are struggling to prise him away from Monaco.

"It looks like that", Wenger told a post-match news conference after Arsenal's 3-1 win over Western Sydney Wanderers - the final game of their tour of Australia.

It looks increasingly like Arsenal will have to wait until next summer - perhaps with the lure of Champions League football - to try and convince Mbappe to move to north London, with Wenger appearing to concede defeat for now.

Monaco have turned down two bids by Gunners for Lemar but boss Arsene Wenger will not be put off in his dogged pursuit of the 21-year-old winger and could end up paying more than £48m for his services.

With a few key players leaving Monaco this summer, such as Bernardo Silva and Tiemoue Bakayoko, and Manchester City aggressively chasing Benjamin Mendy, there is a suggestion the Ligue 1 champions are going to close the door on other key exits.

So who are we more likely to believe?

And this was confirmed a few hours ago, by the BBC's David Ornstein via this twwet....
