Here at Nintendo Enthusiast, we love our multiplayer gaming. Even if you don't have Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, you could find other players willing to play a different game like ARMS, Street Fighter 2, or Puyo Puyo Tetris, among others. Now a new trailer of the game has been released which gives us a better idea of what to expect. Basically players will be put into a first-person perspective and with motion controllers, they will be able to toss their items at other players to impede their progress, much like you would in the normal game.

Don't get your hopes up for this new Mario Kart to be widely available outside of Japan, either. This Mario Kart VR game is the newest entry announcement in an ongoing series of Namco-developed Mario Kart arcade games which offers a thrill-ride of enjoyment for both fans of Nintendo and virtual reality alike. Yes, that's right, Mario Kart is going full virtual reality.

You see the race from the driver's point of view, with Nintendo characters such as Mario, Peach, Yoshi and Bowser racing around them.

Namco Bandai Executive Officer for Amusement Yoshiyasu Horiuchi said in a statement that "the company plans to install their VR activities in over 20 locations worldwide in order to increase the opportunities for a larger audience to enjoy their VR entertainment", leaving the door open for Western locations in the future. As cool (or as terrifying) as this might seem to you, it's only playable at a single arcade, in Tokyo's Shinjuku ward. Or, how about some unofficial augmented reality Super Mario Bros. while you wait?
