President Trump may be helping "Morning Joe" get higher viewer ratings.

If there's a silver lining to President Donald Trump's crass public commentary about MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski and her Morning Joe colleague, Joe Scarborough, it's that viewers are apparently quite interested in their side of the story.

The episode was watched by 1.66 million viewers, according to the Nielsen ratings, which was a 66.5 percent boost from the second quarter average of 997,000 viewers. That made the MSNBC program the number one cable news morning show of the day, topping perennial victor "Fox & Friends" on Fox News, which drew 1.56 million viewers and 353,000 in the demo. In the news demographic of adults 25-54, the show was up even more (73 percent) to an average 408,000.

Scarborough and Brzezinski, who are engaged to be married, gained attention last week when President Trump angrily tweeted about them. MSNBC's share of the coveted 25 to 54 demographic grew 78 percent in primetime over past year.

The show's ratings on Friday also beat "Fox & Friends", the AP reported. Trump blasted the pair for "speaking badly" about him on their show and accused Brzezinski of bleeding from a face lift back in January.

Congressmen from both parties, as well as other news networks, condemned Trump's remarks for being beneath the dignity of the office of the presidency.
