Man miraculously escapes death when massive pipe crushes his van

The force of the impact completely crushed the driver side roof of the van, troopers said.

A Florida driver is lucky to be alive after a piece of flying metal debris barely missed killing him.

The driver of the van, 36-year-old Jesus Armando Escobar, a father of three, went to a hospital with minor injuries.

A man in Florida miraculously survived a freakish accident during which his van was completely crushed by scrap metal.

The truck struck the guardrail and flipped over, The Florida Highway Patrol said.

Jesus Armando Escobar was on an Orlando-area highway when there was a auto accident on the guardrail above him. "I thought it was a fatality, to be honest with you".

The driver lost control of the truck, and a large piece of metal pipe - several feet long - fell directly onto a minivan below. "But they came out and said, 'Nope, he's only got scratches.' It's insane".

The truck driver, 33-year-old Antonio Santiago Wharton, also sustained minor injuries.
