Joan Lee, Wife Of Marvel Legend Stan Lee, Is Dead At 93

The wife of Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee died Thursday in Los Angeles.

Today's statement said that "The family ask that you please give them time to grieve and respect their privacy during this hard time".

Joan Lee reportedly suffered a stroke earlier in the week and was hospitalized.

The pair had two children, Joan Celia, born in 1950, and Jan who died shortly after her birth in 1953.

Joan and Stan were on the cusp of celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary this year after they Wednesday in December 1947.

Joan was also an author herself, writing the 1987 novel, The Pleasure Palace. Stan has credited his wife with helping him create The Fantastic Four, telling him to create something he was proud of before he quit his job in the comics industry.
