Ander Herrera has played his way into becoming a key part of Mourinho's Manchester United side and is now one of three Spaniards in the Red Devils' dressing room.

Speculation earlier in the summer suggested Barca had identified Herrera as a player to reinforce their midfield, but the 27-year-old made it clear he had no intention of leaving United.

The Star note how Barcelona have been interested in the Spaniard, as coach Ernesto Valverde was linked with sealing a reunion having worked with Herrera previously at Athletic Bilbao.

Another United transfer narrative, surrounding the talks to acquire Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, has been discussed at length the past couple days.

Manchester United want to keep Herrera at the club amid concerns Barcelona could swoop for the Spain global.

"There is nothing certain about Barcelona because I am very happy at United and I feel valued and focused here", said Herrera, who has one year left on his contract.

Herrera also talked about his global teammate Alvaro Morata who was strongly linked with United before the Red Devils signed Romelu Lukaku.

"Too bad he's not with us, but I wish him well".

"Madrid are the most powerful team of the moment", He said. "They have won the last two Champions Leagues but a Super Cup final always motivates me". He is expected to sign a new £175k-a-week deal, a move that will catapult him into the bracket of the club's highest earners. If we had to play against Juventus I'd be equally motivated.
