Barcelona are desperate to land Paris Saint-Germain star Marco Verratti, but the Italy global is likely to command a world-record fee.

It has even been claimed that the Catalans could offer Rakitic plus €65million to persuade PSG to sell Italy star Verratti before the end of the transfer window next month.

Players such as Paulinho, Miralem Pjanic and Jean-Michaël Seri have been linked with a move to Camp Nou this summer, but it seems it's either Verratti or bust for newly-appointed manager Ernesto Valverde. "I hope he can help us win the Champions League", Alves said during his first press conference as a PSG player.

Valverde is happy with the squad he inherited from Luis Enrique with the additions of Gerard Deulofeu and Nelson Semedo to the team, he remains open to improvements if the right player becomes available this summer. "The more good players we have, the more chances we'll have to achieve it".

He went further..."If it happens, then that would be great".

"A player who can play in all three positions would be incredible, because playing in that position means you're always fighting for game time so the more positions you can play in, the more opportunities you'll have". The club is working hard for the squad to have the best players.

There is still a long time before the transfer window slams shut and we have to wait and see if Rakitic can survive that long.

However, according to recent reports, Barcelona will have to think twice before shipping out Rakitic as the heartthrob of the club Lionel Messi is a close friend of Rakitic and wants the 29-year-old to be kept at all costs.
