Disney also revealed an animated poster of Blunt's incarnation of Mary Poppins, which shows her posing in front of the London skyline.

Aside from Blunt, Colin Firth has also joined the project, set to play Bank president, William Weatherall Wilkins, and Hamilton's Lin-Manuel Miranda has been cast as Bert's equivalent - a street lamp lighter called Jack - even Meryl Streep has been given a cameo.

THE most action-packed teaser for Mary Poppins Returns is here, and it's certainly supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

From there on out, there's more whimsy, color and humor as we see Mary begin to bring back the joy and wonder that had been missing in the Banks' lives.

"I found that I watched about 15 minutes of the original and then just stopped watching it because I needed to kind of try and pay homage to what Julie did but carve out new space for myself", telling the fans. Here's some of what Emily Blunt had to say during the panel.

Blunt took to the stage at the D23 Expo in Anaheim this morning, joining director/producer Rob Marshall to talk about the eagerly-anticipated return of the enigmatic nanny, where Blunt offered insight as to how she made the character her own.

"We both and the entire company and the creative time feel very protective of the original film because we love it so much", Marshall said. Emily Mortimer of The Newsroom fame plays an adult Jane Banks. "She's just unbelievable", before teasing that her version of Mary is a little more "acerbic and odd and vain" like the character is in the books. Until now. Mary Poppins Returns is drawn from the wealth of material in these additional books.

The movie is set to reunite the director and producing team behind Disney's hit musical Into the Woods, with Rob Marshall in the director's chair and Marshall, John DeLuca, and Marc Platt all down as producers.

The sequel, like its predecessor, is based on the book series by Australian-born P.L. Travers.
