MI fifth-year senior linebacker Mike McCray was one of 51 FBS players named to the Dick Butkus Award watch list on Monday, given annually to the nation's best linebacker.

Wilson, a 5-9, 185-pound native of Charlotte, N.C., was a preseason All-ACC selection by Phil Steele's College Football Preview (2nd team return specialist) and Athlon Sports (3rd team return specialist & 4th team RB).

As a sophomore a season ago, Jefferson played in 11 games while making nine starts.

He was only one of four players in FBS with two touchdowns receiving and on punt returns in 2016, while adding six rush attempts for 26 yards. He added 125 yards through the air on 17 receptions and averaged 22.3 yards per kickoff return.

He is one of eight starters returning on the defense, one reason for the confidence of Auburn fans about the 2017 season. The award, given to the nation's best linebacker, is presented by the Butkus Foundation. He was a second-team Football Writers Association of America honoree, becoming the first Husker freshman to make the FWAA All-America team.

Watch lists for major college football awards will continue to be announced for the remainder of this week.

Aside from his productive on-the-field performance, Johnson is a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and was first team CoSIDA Academic All-District.
