CBO delays scoring of GOP health care bill in yet another setback

The Senate is slated to begin voting on its health care bill this week.

"As the U.S. Senate considers the Better Care Reconciliation Act, we are writing to urge you to strike the "Consumer Freedom Option" from the bill", the letter reads.

A close vote had already been predicted for the GOP health care bill, with all Democrats and independents coming out against it and some Republicans opposed or undecided.

The 2008 Republican presidential nominee, McCain was resting comfortably at home in good condition after Friday's operation, his office said.

But the Senate Budget Committee on Sunday said the release had been postponed. John McCain recuperates from surgery to remove a blood clot, will take it up as soon as all senators are available, said Sen.

"The real problem we have is that we won four elections on repealing Obamacare but [the Senate GOP's replacement bill] keeps most of Obamacare taxes, keeps most of the regulations, keeps most of the subsidies and creates something that Republicans have never been for and that's a giant insurance bailout superfund", Paul explained. Sens. Tom Cotton and John Boozman claim, from in hiding through spokespeople, to still be in serious contemplation of this latest bit of Republican meanness.

"President Trump and I believe the Senate health-care bill strengthens and secures Medicaid for the neediest in our society", Pence said in a speech to governors Friday. Susan Collins and Rand Paul have publicly stated they will not support a motion to proceed to floor debate on the legislation.

Republicans control the Senate by a 52-48 margin.

Collins strongly disagreed in an interview Sunday with CNN.

As for efforts to gain her support for the bill, Collins said that while President Donald Trump had not personally lobbied her yet, members of the administration have, including White House chief of staff Reince Priebus.

"I would caution about overselling what's going to happen", Sen.

"I've been involved with health care for 20 years as a physician", he said "It was in awful shape before Obamacare, got worse under Obamacare, and I predict that the fundamental flaw of Obamacare will remain with the Republican plan, and this is a big reason why I can't support it".

There's another possible delay to the Senate's consideration of a Republican bill to repeal and replace the Obama-era health care law. "I've been involved with health care for 20 years as a physician", he told host Christ Wallace.

"While John is recovering, the Senate will continue our work on legislative items and nominations, and will defer consideration of the Better Care Act", McConnell, R-Ky., said on Saturday. "McCain a speedy recovery".

"This bill imposes fundamental, sweeping changes in the Medicaid program, and those include very deep cuts that would affect some of the most vulnerable people in our society, including disabled children and poor seniors", Collins said.
