Amazon Alexa or Google Home: Which one is better?

Amazon say that the smart assistant requires a "wake word" to make calls. However, this Alexa has over 1500 skills inside and the new skills will be added on a regular basis. If you're not invested in Amazon and just want a general-purpose assistant for your phone, Google Assistant is still the go-to choice until Alexa can improve its on-phone experience. The famous website Amazon will host what they call: Amazon Prime Day, which is supposed to come with major offers and discounts for TVs and other electronic devices.

But it's definitely full Alexa functionality. We'd be surprised if this doesn't eventually make it onto more phones in the future. But, so can Google Home, Apple HomePod and a bunch of other smart speakers. The company announced that a record number of customers have signed up for Amazon Prime, the company's subscription service and also that 50% more subscribers shopped during this Prime Day sale.

Companies have been trying to shoehorn the voice-powered Alexa assistant onto everything from smartwatches to cars, but strangely, there's one type of device that still lacks the kind of Alexa integration you'd expect: smartphones.

Twitter user @ChengmingAlpert noticed a mention of Alexa in the "What's New" section of the Play Store listing for the Edge Sense app, and sure enough, there's a new setting to pick Alexa as the default assistant. "Right now, Amazon is being cautious because it doesn't want people to be scared of them". "OK Google" is still more reliable. It can not delve into the settings of the phone and allow the user to change them.

Amazon hasn't said anything about this upgrade, and its fairly constant flow of new devices in the Echo family may have made some believe an upgrade of the original wasn't coming anytime soon.

Today's release of the new HTC Alexa app for the HTC U11 owners will become the first set of people to use the hands-free Amazon Alexa support on their smartphone which is being provided by HTC.

You can not interrupt Alexa by saying “Alexa, stop” while shes rambling, press the back button to do this. It'd be a lot more useful if Alexa displayed information, such as the weather or my calendar appointments, on the U11's very nice screen, instead of pretending it doesn't exist. You can not depend on it as your sole voice assistant.
