$9 million of the the total came from 343 IMAX theaters.

The film, directed by Patty Jenkins, has broken the record for the highest-grossing opening weekend for a female-directed movie.

AND it's the film that gifted us that goosebump-inducing guitar riff... As per Warner Bros, the film has amassed Rs 7.40 crore (net) in its opening weekend collection in India.

While sitting down with Katie Couric for an interview with Yahoo News, Gadot was happy to discuss how the movie has become a symbol of female empowerment and said who she thinks would win in a fight between Thor and Diana Prince (Diana, duh). Lebanon banned the film because Gadot is Israeli.

The previous United States opening weekend record for a female-directed film was the $85 million (£66 million) taken by Sam Taylor-Johnson's Fifty Shades Of Grey in 2015.

The DC film has also had the most successful opening for a superhero film about a woman, following a series of bombs including Catwoman and Elektra.

Snyder has previously made cameos in other productions he's been involved with, such as the Dawn of the Dead remake, Watchmen, and even Batman v. Superman.

Number two at the box office was "Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie". "But I think its worth a fight. we should collide worlds".

Wonder Woman, though, pushed the week's box office up 30 per cent over the same week past year, according to comScore.

"Fortunes rise and fall very quickly within the very small summer movie eco-system and only five weekends into the season, a solid overall marketplace performance can have a profound impact on the bottom line", Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at ComScore, told Variety.
