But in decades and centuries past, a nation at war was all-consumed by this fact.

Ahead of Father's Day this Sunday, The Fan Carpet are delighted to share with you the first trailer for GOODBYE CHRISTOPHER ROBIN, which tells the story of the relationship between beloved children's author A.A. Milne and his son Christopher Robin, whose toys inspired the magical world of Winnie the Pooh.

Milne is most famous for his two Pooh books about a boy named Christopher Robin after his son, Christopher Robin Milne, and various characters inspired by his son's stuffed animals, most notably the bear named Winnie-the-Pooh. However, despite the sweetness that is clearly present in the story, the most intriguing aspect of this story is learning about the creation of Winnie the Pooh.

Goodbye Christopher Robin follows the story of the author's time battling artillery in the trenches in the army during the First World War and how his love for his young son Christopher Robin came to inspire him to write about the fantasy world of Winnie the Pooh. And, gauging from the trailer for Finding Christopher Robin, it looks like it will be every bit the tear-jerker.

Goodbye Christopher Robin stars Trainspotting's Kelly Macdonald as Olive, Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge as Mary Brown and Alex Lawther as an older Christopher Robin.

Margot Robbie co-stars as Milne's wife, and Kelly MacDonald (who narrates the trailer) plays Christopher Robin's nanny. Macdonald is also the voice behind protagonist Merida from Pixar's courageous just in case you didn't know.

The film has been directed by My Week With Marilyn director Simon Curtis, and will be released in cinemas on September 29.
