Others spotted at the service included actors Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Josh Brolin, James Franco, and Fred Armisen.

Following the services, mourners headed to Cornell's final resting place in the Garden of Legends section of Hollywood Forever Cemetery.

Cornell was cremated on May 22, 2017 and his gravestone read: "Voice of our generation and an artist for all time".

Among those paying respects were Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters; Krist Novoselic from Nirvana; Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield of Metallica; Dave Navarro and Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction; singer-songwriter Joe Walsh; guitarist Nile Rodgers; rocker Courtney Love and Bush's Gavin Rossdale.

"A lot of his lyrics could be sad but his music was so attractive", said fan Chris Heathcoat, 46, who brought white roses to the cemetery to pay tribute to his favourite musician.

The Soundgarden rocker died last week in what authorities ruled as a suicide, however, Cornell's family raised doubts about the findings.

TMZ has obtained the harrowing account of Chris Cornell's final moments, which the gossip site says his wife, Vicky, described to friends and family.

The Soundgarden frontman was found dead of suicide by hanging at MGM Grand Detroit following the band's performance at the MI city's Fox Theatre May 18.

Cornell was a leading voice of the grunge movement in the 1990s.

Vicky Cornell has opened up in a letter to her late husband, saying that he was the best father and husband.

Vicky Cornell writes in the note published online by Billboard on Wednesday that she's sorry she didn't "see what happened to you that night".

The couple married in 2004 and share two children, Toni, 12, and Christopher, 11. With lyrics like, "In my time of dying, I want nobody to mourn/All I want for you to do is take my body home", it's not hard to see why some would think that suicide was on Cornell's mind, but Laffitte said that is simply not the case. "Your children know that too, so you can rest in peace", she wrote.
