The THAAD system, controlled by the USA, was deployed to the Korean peninsula back in March and is created to shoot down any North Korean missiles that might pose a threat to South Korea, the United States, or other allies in the region.

Seoul's Joint Chiefs of Staff reportedly said that they found hundreds of photos of South Korea in the memory chip, adding that authorities are trying to find where the drone came from.

It is believed to have crashed due to running out of fuel.

Trump and Moon will likely discuss a controversial USA missile defense system that has been installed in South Korea to guard against North Korean missile threats.

South Korean military officials estimate that North Korea possesses around 300 military drones.

On that chip were at least 10 pictures of the area where the United States deployed a controversial Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) missile defense system.

THAAD's deployment has been sharply opposed by China, North Korea's main ally and economic supporter, which claims the real reason behind Washington's deployment is to spy on and contain Chinese - not just North Korean - military assets.

"Cho has a good understanding about Moon's North Korea policy and inter-Korean issues and has extensive experience in areas spanning from exchanges to negotiations with the North", the presidential office said.

US and South Korea planned to deploy THAAD in a rural region some 180 miles southeast of Seoul amid growing tensions in the Korean Peninsula as Kim Jong Un's regime continued its nuclear advancements despite warnings from the worldwide community.

"Ultimately, we must find a way to fundamentally resolve North Korea's nuclear missile threat and maintain peace", the South Korean leader said.

That bilateral strategic group was established a year ago to enhance deterrence against North Korea's threats.

Throwing cold water on hopes from many in Moon's circle for improved North-South relations, Pyongyang said it wouldn't allow the visit due to new United Nations sanctions against it that South Korea supported.

(KOREAN) "We hope the talks will boost trust and the personal bond between the two leaders, while also providing an opportunity for the allies to lay the groundwork for an unshakable relationship against North Korea".

He's also expected to meet with other USA officials, including Vice President Mike Pence, but his detailed schedule is yet to be determined.

The defector, a 42-year-old former third secretary who fled the North's regime in 2015, also claimed Pyongyang has attack drones capable of carrying biological and chemical weapons to Seoul within one hour.
