A three-run 4th inning by Florida proved to be to much for LSU as the Gators held on for a 4-3 victory to take Game 1 of the best three series.

Tigers' senior Russell Reynolds evened things up nicely for three shutout innings, but when he wobbled, the Gators were ready. Langworthy would score two at-bats later on a hard hit single that got past Bush.

LSU never went away, scoring twice in the sixth and once in the eighth, with the potential tying run gunned down at second base on a bang-bang play.

Singer got the win after striking out 12 batters while walking two and scattering eight hits over seven innings.

Reynolds recorded the first out of the frame when first baseman Jake Slaughter dove for ball to his right off the bat of leadoff man Deacon Liput, scrambled to his knees and tossed to his pitcher covering. Nelson Maldonado walked to load the bases.

For a coach who will face elimination for the fourth time in this year's College World Series, LSU's Paul Mainieri was feeling pretty good. In the bottom of the inning, Florida shortstop Dalton Guthrie ranged deep into foul territory to make an over-the-head catch while sprawling into the dirt.

Bush gave up a sacrifice fly for a run and a two-run double, which gave Florida a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Game three of the College World Series Championship Series between the Arizona Wildcats and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers is under a weather delay on June 29, 2016 at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska.

Byrne would then get the final four outs of the game on the mound and the Gators would take the first game of the CWS Finals. When the Gators' pitcher came at the LSU hitter, he turned on the pitch and dropped it into the right-field bleachers for a solo home run. Newman threw scoreless innings in the eighth and ninth.Byrne relieved Singer after Deichmann led off the eighth with a double. Singer (9-5) limited LSU (52-19) to three singles before Antoine Duplantis homered in the sixth. However, Singer protected the one-run lead by getting Papierski to fly out to the leftfielder. Robertson couldn't get any of the three runners advancing and Guthrie scored. Mike Rivera made that a moot point when he smoked a hot shot through the middle for an RBI single.
