Points to Know As Georgia House Race Heads to Voters

The Democrats are looking to capitalise on the president's low personal approval ratings to win Georgia's sixth district seat.

In the history of awful endorsements, Trump's endorsement of Karen Handel has to be one of the worst. "So all of us, let's get out and vote on Tuesday like we've never voted before".

President Donald Trump has been an active participant in the race, tweeting frequently in the run-up to April's primary and posting Tuesday to urge residents of the district, which encompasses parts of Cobb, DeKalb and Fulton counties, to vote for Handel.

Karen Handel is getting more backup from national Republicans in the final hours of Georgia's tight 6th Congressional race.

A GOP outside group called The Principled PAC is on the air with an ad tying Ossoff to the shooting, warning that if Ossoff wins, those who support leftwing political violence win with him.

"Democrat Jon Ossoff, who wants to raise your taxes to the highest level and is weak on crime and security, doesn't even live in district", Trump wrote on Twitter.

Trump hosted a fundraiser for Handel in April and called her an "incredible" candidate. The election will fill a congressional seat that has been held by a Republican since the 1970s.

Now, the unhinged left is endorsing and applauding shooting Republicans.

"I love this country and I feel like the news, with the Democrats, is trying to make Donald Trump not be able to do what he needs to do", Asper said. Former Rep. Tom Price, whose departure to become Trump's health and human services secretary led to the special election, won each time he was on the ballot since 2004 with more than 60% of the vote. Republicans say that even if Ossoff wins, it would be hard to replicate the massive amount of money and outside focus for races during a normal cycle.

Polling stations open at 07:00 (11:00 GMT) and close at 19:00. The race between Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel is seen as a s.

In April they narrowly defended a deeply conservative Kansas seat vacated when Mr Trump appointed Congressman Mike Pompeo to lead the Central Intelligence Agency. There's also a special election in SC on Tuesday to replace Trump budget director Mick Mulvaney, in which the Republican is heavily favored.

If November was the height of political winter for Democrats, the party faithful have been desperately searching ever since for the first signs of spring.

Democratic special election candidates in deep-red districts in Kansas and Montana still lost, but they came within single-digit margins of their opponents. Narrow defeats there, with talk of moral victories, have only gone so far.

The June 20 runoff quickly became the most expensive US House race in history, with the campaigns, political action committees and other outside groups raising almost $60 million, according to government reform and ethics group Issue One.

With few electoral opportunities between Trump's election and the 2018 midterms, the suburban Atlanta congressional seat has become the closest thing to a referendum on Trump's agenda.
