The 17-year-old and almost 40 people from Huntsville's Mount Zion Baptist Church were aboard a bus headed to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Sarah's mother Karen Harmening told reporters.

Sarah, a victim of the bus accident, was in the group from Mount Zion Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama. In addition to one fatality, four to five were critically injured, while 10 were said to be "walking wounded".

The Associated Press could not immediately determine why there was such a wide discrepancy in the number of injuries.

One person was killed and at least 21 were injured on Thursday when a bus chartered by a church youth group overturned on a major road southwest of Atlanta, Georgia, local media reported.

Images from the scene showed the bus overturned on its roof and a auto underneath it. Thursday afternoon. Firetrucks and ambulances headed to the area near Atlanta's airport.
