Brad Rodrigues, interim president at Nokia Technologies said: "Nokia's global expansion into digital health builds on Nokia's unmatched track record of quality, reliability and trust, which are characteristics that are all critical to success in the health industry".

The Health Mate, as expected, has been redesigned from the ground up and will now serve as the center of attraction for health and fitness enthusiasts.

Alongside a few product rebrands Nokia launched a new, more portable, blood pressure monitoring device called the Nokia BPM+.

"Nokia design is human-centric, simplifying operation and creating products that fit seamlessly into people's daily life to improve the health of the individual and wellbeing of society as a whole".

While Nokia's current endeavors, such as the Nokia 6 smartphone or even its health offerings might not be as big a draw as Samsung and Apple devices, it seems the company is trying to claw its way back into the market.

The full launch range is available online and through selected retailers.

The product line is created to fit multiple different lifestyles and is focused on changing the dynamic between patients, doctors and the medical community with tools to prevent chronic diseases.

"Nokia is committed to shifting the focus from treatment to prevention, empowering consumers to take control of their health".

But the advantage of it being a smart scale is still there - it has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity allowing you to sync it with smartphones and tablets and the accompanying application. The latest update has received enhanced navigation features, a selection of eight week wellness programs, and five new programs to improve health. These programs, endorsed by medical professionals, take users on a multi-week journey with tailored content and recommendations that adapt to each user's progress over time. The existing Withings Body scale, which measures body fat, is now the Nokia Body Plus, while the Withings Body Cardio is now the Nokia Body Cardio; which measures bodyfat and analyses cardiovascular health.

Tools to visualize progress towards goals, leading to stronger outcomes. The Nokia BPM+ is available for purchase through the company's health-dedicated website as well as via Best Buy for the price of €129.95 / $129.95 and will soon be coming to Amazon where its predecessor is already on sale.
