However, Gaudreau scored his second straight game-winning goal - and third goal of the Final - on Monday to pace the Predators to a 4-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4. With Rinne's heroics, the Preds moved to 9-1 at home this postseason and 9-0 when leading after two periods.

Nashville's Calle Jarnkrok was the first to get the puck past Matt Murray, scoring 5:09 into the first period.

Just 66 seconds later, Crosby tied it up for Pittsburgh on a dazzling breakaway. Again, the Predators went the other way and made it 3-1 with Arvidsson beating Murray on a breakaway. The Stanley Cup Final doesn't start until the home team loses a game, and so through four games, this series hasn't even begun. In obvious pain, Subban left the ice, but he returned.

The Predators beat Murray three times on 26 shots Monday, but he was hardly the only issue.

Arvidsson's third goal of the playoffs gave the Predators a 3-1 lead at the 13:08 mark, moving them a step closer toward evening the Stanley Cup Final at two games apiece. Arvidsson and Forsberg finished off the defending champion.

Gaudreau's goal was confirmed only after the horn sounded and officials reviewed the play. The puck barely snuck inside the goal line, bouncing off a lunging Matt Murray's blocker pad and back out in a split second.

Moments later, Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne stopped Sidney Crosby's backhander on a breakaway, then slid back to his right to stop Guentzel in a frantic scramble.

"Throughout every period, there were some chances there we didn't capitalize on", said captain Sidney Crosby. "Tonight, we had our chances and they didn't go in".

Nashville had opened the scoring with about five minutes left in the first period when Jarnkrok flipped a rebound over the leg of a sprawling Murray shortly after a failed clearing attempt.

Crosby said the next game is key. He has 57 goals and 104 assists, for a total of 161 points. A 4-1 win: they were outplayed in for two periods.

The lead didn't last long.

"I never really looked at results to determine how things are going, to be honest", he said. Former NBA star and TV commentator Charles Barkley also was on hand, accepting NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman's invitation to watch in person.

Barkley interrupted Wayne Gretzky and Paul Coffey talking about National Hockey League fans voting for the best team of all-time.

Crosby had another breakaway almost midway through the period, and Rinne stopped him not once, but twice.
